Sunday 17 June saw the first BBSL 5-a-side Football tournament and if you were not there, you missed the spirit of our Bardai community - comradeship, determination and desire to come first. It was a greatly contested match and here is Saloniben Joshi’s (our on-site Sports reporter) report for all who missed the final. Don't forget to check out the gallery for more photos. If you want to play next time then get in touch by emailing vishalb@bbsl.org.uk. YOUNG BRAHMINS TRIUMPH
The early stages of the final, between teams "Jai" and "Gorbapa" was tightly contested.  "Jai" were pressing hard, with Milan Thankey coming close twice early on, but hitting the bar.  A magnificent solo effort by Jigar Thanki put the "Gorbapas" 1-0 ahead.  Team "Jai" were soon handed a lifeline - a penalty - which Jay Thankey took but was saved by Mihir Modha.

"Gorbapas" then seized the chances that fell their way scoring 2 goals in quick succession to go 3-0 ahead.  While "Jai" continued to control majority of the possession, Gorbapas were content with what they had. Jay pulled one back for "Jai", with 2 minutes to play to make it 3-1. Then Jay played a through ball which Milan ran on to and smashed home to give "Jai" hope for a comeback. At 3-2 "Jai" were pushing hard to equalise but it turned out to be too little too late as the "Gorbapas" held on for victory.

We saw a great effort from both teams, all members playing with lots of heart.  Overall, it was a fantastic final summarising the highs and lows of a fabulous day.
